COVID really sucks huh... Still a bummer that we don't get to see international play quite yet, but if anyone remembers back to fall, I did a little simulation to see who would theoretically win the Fall Major. Team BDS took home the crown, defeating NRG in the finals. Now that the winter major has rolled around, it's time to do it again! submitted by MartianRL to RocketLeagueEsports [link] [comments] Here's an overview of what we're doing. Every two days, I make polls for people to vote for the winner in the format of a theoretical fall major. I take those poll results, plug the numbers into a random number generator, and simulate series. Each win on the random number generator is a game win, and its standard Best of 5 or Best of 7 to see who wins the series. I'll upload the updated bracket along with every post so it's easier to keep track of as well. (Note: I am taking a slight bit of creative liberty and saying this major would include 16 teams, similar to the Fall Major) Here's how the bracket looks with proper seeding: https://preview.redd.it/qqjh2y4e4ef61.png?width=1001&format=png&auto=webp&s=36d1cadfb8518e892927131e3578acb9d66d28a0 Now, to the teams that made it. 6 from NA and EU, 2 from OCE and SAM. Top spot (only) in the grid qualifies for the Major (I believe the highest in top 6 was modified to better accommodate the in-region majors) From EU: 1) BDS, 2) Giants, 3) Top Blokes, 4) Team Queso, 5) Vitality, 6) Dignitas From NA: 1) Envy, 2) NRG, 3) Rogue, 4) Spacestation, 5) G2, 6) The Peeps From OCE: 1) Ground Zero, 2) Direwolves. (Direwolves most recently beat Cringe Society in a Best of 7, so they get the nod via tiebreaker) From SAM: 1) True Neutral, 2) Noble Here's how the bracket looks after the fill: https://preview.redd.it/0kxqsspc7ef61.jpg?width=1582&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a0ba0a06a152faa94ca711db0861bf613856a35 I know they're not the same players on the teams that they used to be, but NRG vs Dignitas in the first round just says how this major would go. Below are the strawpolls for the matches: Team Envy vs Direwolves: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572003 True Neutral vs Team Queso: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572004 Rogue vs Vitality: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572005 Giants vs Peeps: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572006 Team BDS vs Noble: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572008 Ground Zero vs Spacestation: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572010 Top Blokes vs G2 Esports: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572014 NRG Esports vs Dignitas: https://www.strawpoll.me/42572018 And there you have it! Winter Major (decided by popular opinion) is underway! I'll be back in 48 hours with losers round 1 and winners round 2. Oh, and I stream the random number generator that determines the winners on twitch.tv/MartianRL. That'll go live right before I make the next post |
And I thought I was late last time... Sorry about that. Apparently I'm not too well built to stay up until 3 AM. Nor am I built for getting out of bed before 9. Anyways, onto the Rocket League submitted by MartianRL to RocketLeagueEsports [link] [comments] Here's an overview of what we're doing. I'll upload the updated bracket along with every post so it's easier to keep track of as well. Here are your results from the previous post: Team Envy vs Team Queso: Unsurprisingly, the current leaders in North America took 90% of the fan vote. They get it done quickly against the new blood from Europe. ENVY win 3-0 Rogue vs Giants: In a high speed matchup, Giants are favored with 70% of the vote. Rogue get out to an early start by taking the first two games, but Giants come roaring back to take the series. GIA win 3-2 Team BDS vs Spacestation: This match is much more in favor of Team BDS this major than last one, with 82% of fans thinking they'd win. They take care of business quickly and secure their own spot in the top 6. BDS win 3-0 G2 Esports vs Dignitas: In a matchup no one thought they would see in the upper bracket, Dignitas are favored this time with 73% of the vote. They knock off another NA heavyweight in a sweep and move into the quarterfinals. DIG win 3-0 Direwolves vs True Neutral: First match of the lower bracket, and the new SAM favorites take 88% of the vote. This time, they don't waste their chance at the major, and finally get their first win on the big stage. TN win 3-0 Vitality vs Peeps: In a long time cross-regional classic, 72% of fans slept on the peeps and chose vitality to win. However, after game 1, it seemed acceptable to sleep on said peeps, as vitality finished them off. VIT wins 3-1 Noble vs Ground Zero: In another SAM vs OCE classic, Ground Zero are favored with 92% of the vote. Noble surprisingly squeezes out a singular game win, but the Amphis hype train doesn't stop here. GZG win 3-1 Top Blokes vs NRG Esports: In a match no one wanted to see in the lower bracket, NRG are favored with 70% of the vote. Top Blokes can't manage to get a win over an NA team this year, and get sent home much earlier than anticipated. NRG win 3-1 Quick look at the updated bracket: https://preview.redd.it/hp7a75tqz9g61.jpg?width=1572&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f334ba4a189cb72260a129231f8c0158b71df034 This time I think we're only going to do Lower Bracket Simulations, just so the upper bracket doesn't get too ahead. From now on, Upper Bracket is Best of 7, while Lower Bracket still has 2 rounds left of Best of 5 matches. Here are your matches this week: G2 Esports vs True Neutral: https://www.strawpoll.me/42597654 Spacestation vs Vitality: https://www.strawpoll.me/42597655 Rogue vs Ground Zero: https://www.strawpoll.me/42597659 Team Queso vs NRG Esports: https://www.strawpoll.me/42597661 And there it is! Hopefully I'll return around Midnight EST Tomorrow (Approx 36 hours) but apparently I have no internal clock so we'll see. Looking forward to see what people pick on some of these polls, I have a feeling they might get pretty close. |

I think this time might just work better for me. I'll either be doing it at this time or midnight (10 hours earlier). The 2 day gap generally gives enough time for all the votes to be cast, plus I did not feel like reworking my entire obs setup at midnight last night. Either way, we're getting to the exciting stuff. submitted by MartianRL to RocketLeagueEsports [link] [comments] Here's an overview of what we're doing. Here are the previous results: G2 Esports vs True Neutral: In what shaped up to be a true cross-regional classic, G2 took 62% of the fan vote. After a back and forth series, G2 secure the win in game 5, eliminating SAM from the bracket. G2 win 3-2 Spacestation vs Vitality: It's the first time these two teams have played since Dreamhack Montreal, and SSG is favored with 64% of the vote. Another back and forth series, but this time the underdogs have an unstoppable Kaydop, and they take the series in 5. VIT win 3-2 Rogue vs Ground Zero: Many fans believe in the magic of Amphis, but after Rogue's most recent win at X-games it's hard to blame the 68% of fans who thought they would take this series. Rogue don't draw it out either, they swiftly sweep the last remaining OCE team out of the bracket. RGE win 3-0 Team Queso vs NRG Esports: It's another day of "how did NRG end up in lowers?" NRG has 82% of the fan vote over the new mechanical wizards from Europe, and they take the series in a sweep to keep their lower bracket momentum going. NRG win 3-0 Here's an updated look at the bracket: https://preview.redd.it/hb21f5mg8og61.jpg?width=1660&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2104ac114d21d974604e53716fedc850bbe8651e Now we're back to the upper bracket. This time it's gonna be a bit weird, since the upper bracket is into Best of 7 territory, while the lower bracket is still in Best of 5. It's still easiest to simulate both at the same time, but keep that in mind when the results come in. Here are today's matches: Team Envy vs Giants: https://www.strawpoll.me/42610414 Team BDS vs Dignitas: https://www.strawpoll.me/42610416 G2 Esports vs Vitality: https://www.strawpoll.me/42610421 Rogue vs NRG Esports: https://www.strawpoll.me/42610423 And there you have it. I'll likely be back in 48 hours to knock 2 more teams out of this competition! |
Apologies for posting so late into the night, I was busy mourning the unfortunate premature exit of CJCJ from the OCE Major (It's been a tough hour). Got some interesting results for Round 1, and remember every match is much more crucial in double elimination than in the previous swiss style simulation. submitted by MartianRL to RocketLeagueEsports [link] [comments] Here's an overview of what we're doing. I'll upload the updated bracket along with every post so it's easier to keep track of as well. Here's how the matches went: Team Envy vs Direwolves: Unsurprisingly, Team Envy got 95% of the poll vote and went on to sweep Direwolves. Envy win 3-0 True Neutral vs Team Queso: Many comments about this matchup in particular, but Team Queso did take the poll vote with 57%. The dice rolls didn't quite fall in True Neutral's favor at all tonight, as they drop to the lower bracket. Queso win 3-0 Rogue vs Vitality: In our most even poll to date (I think Fall Major Included), Rogue was favored with 53%. First few games went back and forth, but the young guns from NA took down the veterans from EU. Rogue win 3-1 Giants vs Peeps: While it was unsurprising that Giants were favored, 80% of the vote seemed like a lot. They put it to good use however, securing their first win this major. Giants win 3-0 Team BDS vs Noble: Was there ever any doubt? The reigning Fall Major Champions got 97% of the poll vote and sent Noble tumbling to the lowers. BDS win 3-0 Ground Zero vs Spacestation: First time seeing Amphis on LAN, but Spacestation is a tough first opponent. SSG take 83% of the vote and welcome OCE back to the big stage by sending them right to the lowers. SSG win 3-0 Top Blokes vs G2 Esports: I remembered incorrectly. Last time these two met G2 took the vote, this time its Top Blokes taking 62% of the vote. However, G2 seems to work best when the odds are against them. G2 win 3-0 NRG Esports vs Dignitas: An all-time LAN classic has NRG favored with 68% of the vote. DIG come out swinging in Game 1, NRG is able to tie it, then the mechanical monsters from Dignitas take over the series. DIG win 3-1 Quick look at the updated bracket: https://preview.redd.it/z6ax4e5mrsf61.jpg?width=1543&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77fce168d6bd718d9e81967f55c8e0f5a0bee2db Dang we had some upsets! The final two matchups were both big upsets in G2 beating Top Blokes, as well as NRG falling to Dignitas. Imagine dropping to lowers after losing to G2 and you have to face NRG for any chance to continue in the tournament. Double Elimination is brutal! (Is it obvious that I only started watching in Season 7?) Here are the round 2 matches: Team Envy vs Team Queso: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585400 Rogue vs Giants: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585402 Team BDS vs Spacestation: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585403 G2 Esports vs Dignitas: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585406 Direwolves vs True Neutral: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585407 Vitality vs Peeps: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585409 Noble vs Ground Zero: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585410 Top Blokes vs NRG Esports: https://www.strawpoll.me/42585411 I'll see you all in another 48 hours for the next matches! I think next post will only have losers bracket to give them a chance to catch up to the winners bracket. It's really easy to miss since my ski schedule is so unpredictable, but I do stream the result generations over on twitch.tv/MartianRL and the vods stay up if you wanna see the process. |
